Saturday October 30th at 2pm we are hosting the awards ceremony for the 2010 Seattle Weekly Homebrew Award Ceremony. The winner will be announced and their beer, brewed in large scale by Big Al Brewing, will be on tap for the first time.

Starting Wednesday October 13th we will be giving all of the taps to Washington and serving up local cuisine to match.

Another year at the Great American Beer Fest is under our belts. It was good to see many of our old friends, and make some new ones that will hopefully be sending us beer for our festivals.

I am now assembling the list for our Blind Lion event on November 13th. There are only a limited number of tickets being sold for this private closed door event.
Admission includes a 3 hour open Scotch tasting, dinner buffet, and a cigar provided by JnJ Cigars.

The people have spoken! The Fifth annual Hopfest Best of the Fest award goes to Black Ravens Wisdom seeker. Even being the first keg to blow at 2pm on Friday it still managed to get the most votes. Good job guys! Here are the top 3 from Hopfest:

Tonight at 6pm, join Alaskan Brewing and their brewery team, to send them off to the Great American Beer Fest. We’ll have eight great beers on tap and a specially paired menu for the evening.

Both Brouwer’s and Bottleworks will be closed Monday August 30th for an employee outing. See you guys on Tuesday for normal business hours.

The only Trappist brewery outside of Belgium has re branded there beers from Koningshoeven back to their original name, La Trappe. Never needing to much of an excuse to throw a party we’re kicking off their new look in style with ta healthy line-up of beers on draft. We’ll have on-tap Dubbel, Quadrupel, Isid d’or, & Wit. In the bottle we’ll round out the selection with Trippel and Bock.

Along with the beer we’ll be giving away some sweet one of a kind t-shirts commemorating the event.

The fun all starts at 6pm on Thursday August 26th

We’ve picked the date for Blind Lion again and it’s Saturday November 13th. Same deal as before. $100 gets you a dinner buffet, over 50 scotches to sample and a cigar. This time we’ll have more scotch purveyors, and we’ll have J&J Cigars on hand, Seattle’s premier cigar shop.

Saturday July 31st grab you bike and head on down to Gas Works Park for New Belgium’s Tour de Fat. Tour de Fat is  a day of Bikes, Beers, and Bands set outside at Gas Works Park. After the Tour head here to Brouwer’s for the Official afterparty with more beer, and more bikes! We will have some special New Belgium brews on-tap and Emerald Sprints with a chance to win a bike.

It’s supposed to be a hot one this Thursday with temperatures reaching well into the 90’s. I can’t think of a better way to stay cool than our air conditioning, and the beers of Russian River Brewing Company.  We won’t have Vinnie or Natalie in attendance, but we will have 7 of their beers on tap.

This Saturday, Fremont attempts to reclaim the Guiness Book Of World Records title, for most Zombie impersonators gathered together in one spot at one time. Expect thousands of Zombies
roaming the streets out front of Brouwer’s Cafe, as well as inside. Apparently the next best thing to brains is strong malty beer and hard liquor. Come on down and watch the spectacle, or become a zombie yourself for one night.

Heads up, we’ll be closed this Sunday to observe the 4th of July.

There are plenty of bars around town that are going crazy for the world cup and opening their doors as early as 4am to show every match possible. We are not one of those bars. However there are a number of games that do fall within our operating hours. We will be showing the following list of games with the sound on through our massive stereo system. We’re even researching extra screens for the games.

2010 Beer Week was one hell of a party this year. I’d like to thank my partners in the Beer Collective for all the hard work we’ve done to get Beer week rolling the past 2 years. Internally I need to thank all of the staff here at Brouwer’s for the extra shifts and long hours to make the many wonderful events happen. This year was even bigger and more explosive than before.
The biggest thanks of course goes out to everyone who came down to our events and made them the best they could be. As a reward over the next couple weeks we will be re-tapping some of our favorites beers that we poured during beer week. So keep your eyes on the draft list and check your tweets because there will be some amazing beers on tap, without the beer week crowds.
