Single Barrel

The sun is shining…

It’s the Solstice today, the longest day of the year, and its sunny hope you get outside and enjoy it.
A while back we received some barrel samples from 4 Roses Whiskey. Matt and Matt got together and sampled them all and decided on one. Well a week or so ago we received the bottled version of the barrel they decided on. It comes in at 61.2 percent alcohol and spent 8year and 8 months in the barrel, we have all decided that it is best with a few cubes added to bring out the floral notes. We are also in the planning stages of a 4 Roses event that is tenatively scheduled for Thursday, June 7th. More details to come. We also have plans for the barrel itself….look for something special down the road, possibly Big Wood.

We will be closed on the 4th of July, hope you enjoy the fireworks.

On July 5th we will be open for lunch, but closed from 3-6:30 for a private event and then open for regular business after that.

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!!!! You won’t want to miss this!!

Attention, Attention!!!”I already tried that” , (you haven’t), “Give me something new!!!” (no problem) and “What would you drink?” (This One) People….
Brouwer’s Cafe will be tapping the only two kegs from the Evil Twin Brewery that came to Washington State.
We will have:
Soft Dookie Imperial Stout
Before, During and After Christmas Imperial IPA
In addition we will be offering Yin and Yang a blended black and tan that is sure to make you say Holy Crap!!!
All of these beers are rare and I can say most of you have never had them. So come on down on Sunday, we will be tapping them at 6pm.

The event starts at 6pm this upcoming Wednesday night March 2nd.
If you don’t already know this years Hardliver list has been posted over on the site. Check it out…We expect to see you all waiting patiently in line outside on Saturday, March the 12th.
Don’t hold your breath, and please, please don’t pick up the phone and call, keep your eyes glued to this page or our facebook page for information about Pliny the Younger. Some of you wait all year round and we get so many calls about this beer, it’s in the cooler just chillin. We plan on tapping it soon, and with a little twist. In other Russian River news we also just received Sanctification a Belgian Pale with 100% Brettanomyces, 6.25%ABV and Redemption a Blonde Ale, 5.0% ABV . We find them quite delicious.

I know this is a lot of info to take in in one post, Matt Bonney had an idea to brew another beer for Bottleworks 12th Anniversary, a few months back he traveled to down to San Diego to put that idea to kettle with Patrick Rue of The Bruery. On Sunday that beer will be released on draft and in the bottle at Bottleworks. We sampled it yesterday and let me tell you we had good things to say. It is an 8% Wit that has raspberries in it, that spent some time in a barrel leaving it quite tart, and the color is this great orange/auburn color. This beer goes on draft here at 5pm on Sunday night.

Happy Hour with Rob Tod from Allagash, Wednesday, February 23 3-6pm

FEB 23 3-6PM Happy Hour with Rob Tod, Founder of Allagash Brewery. Come drink White, Curieux, Black, Hugh Malone. Also, (hopefully if it arrives in time) taste both versions of Vrienden (one brewed in CO the other in ME). Each used same ingredients but did their own twists. New Belgium family is also rumored to be in attendance. Good times. See you there.

Russian River Pliny the Younger, Elder, Supplication and Damnation on Draft this evening

Sorry for the short notice, Tonight starting at 5 pm we will be pouring 4 Russian River Beers…Pliny the Younger, Pliny the Elder, Damnation, and Supplication.
The much anticipated and very rare Pliny the Younger has reached Washington, after selling out at the brewery in a day, or was it a few hours…We have one 1/6 barrel and that is it, once it is gone it is gone…
11.0%ABV, 1.098 O.G, GOBS of BUs
Pliny the Younger was Pliny the Elder’s nephew, in the case of this beer, the “Younger” is a triple IPA. Pliny the Younger is hopped three times more than our standard IPA, and is dry hopped four different times.

Supplication: Brown Ale aged in French oak Pinot Noir barrels with three strains of Brettanomyces, Lactobacillus, Pediococcus and sour cherries .

I am sure you all are familiar with the other two so I won’t bother you with the details…Remember Younger and Supplication are rare and available in small quantities, they will not last long…show up late and you might miss em…

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010 Midnight Sun Brewers Night

Since firing up its brew kettle in 1995, Midnight Sun Brewing Company has become a serious yet creative force on the American brewing front. From concept to glass, Midnight Sun relies on an “art marries science” approach, mixing tradition with innovation, to design and craft bold, distinctive beers for Alaska…and beyond.

We at Midnight Sun find inspiration in the untamed spirit and rugged beauty of the Last Frontier and develop unique beers with equally appealing names and labels. But the company’s true focus remains in its dedication to producing consistently high-quality beers that provide satisfying refreshment in all seasons… for Alaskans and visitors alike.

Midnight Sun will have a representative on hand to answer all of your questions…and we will be pouring some rare kegs….We have been told that Midnight Sun will be providing our market with mostly bottles and only very limited draft from time to time. This is your opportunity to sample some of their great beers on draft. We will be pouring:

Sockeye Red IPA, XXX Black Double IPA, Berserker Imperial Stout, Arctic Rhino Coffee Porter, and Monks Mistress Dark Strong Ale Oak Aged Nitro

We hope to see you.

Come out and celebrate…

We have an action packed Month ahead of us. First up, Wednesday July 15th, put on your Canadian Tuxedo and come out and celebrate with Oh Canada night. Food and Beer inspired by our friends to the North.

On Monday July 20th our neighbors from the Fremont Outdoor Cinemas will be celebrating “the Dude” by showing the Big Lebowsky as part of The Lebowsky Fest. Come on in for a Caucasian or two…

Next up, on Wednesday July 29nd its Great Scotts! night…haggis and the beers of Belhaven…

Then on Saturday August 8th the celebration of all things bike rolls in to town with New Belgiums Tour De Fat. We will be in attendance with a limited number of spoke cards that will entitle you to a free New Belgium beer here at the after party. After spending the day at Gasworks park and trading your car for a bike, roll on over for Gold Sprints (think head to head, man to man all out sprints on track bikes), a band and drink specials. This video link here gives you and idea…although we will not have the band playing at the same time as the sprints…

Firestone Walker’s Double Jack

We have just tapped a keg of Firestone Walker’s Double Jack, their Imperial IPA, those of you that missed it last night at Bottleworks now is your opportunity to try it. It was described today like this: “the brewer must have taken nine full hop vines and some how stuffed them in to my glass…” to say the least it is for the hop lovers out there. Travis, the Northwest sales rep, tells me it was dry hopped about 4 or 5 different times…the nose is spectacular… and at 9.5% abv how can you go wrong.
In other news Rodenbach and Rodenback Grand Cru are back on our shelves, both are 750ml bottles. They have not been available for quite some time and we are happy that they are back on our shelves.
